A workshop on "Modern Conceptions of Religion" was held on September 19-20, 2024, in the Akşemseddin Islamic Sciences Application and Research Center (AKİMER) conference hall, with the support of Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University (BAİBÜ) and the BAİBÜ Faculty of Theology. The event was organized by the Philosophy of Religion Association and commenced with opening speeches by the Head of our Faculty's Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, Prof. Dr. Muammer İskenderoğlu, and the President of the Philosophy of Religion Association, Prof. Dr. Rahi Acar.
During the workshop, five presentations were delivered, each followed by discussions facilitated by two academic participants, fostering an environment of debate. The presentations focused on the religious conceptions of prominent figures in the history of philosophy, such as Spinoza, Leibniz, Kant, Hegel, and James. These presentations were thoroughly examined by the participants.
Among the presentations was one by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Uğurlu, a faculty member of our Department of Religious Studies, titled "Freedom-Based Conception of Religion in Kant." The workshop concluded with a Closing and Evaluation session.
