APPLICATIONS FOR OFF-CAMPUS SUMMER SCHOOL COURSES
Students Not Eligible to Attend Summer School:
- Students who have used their additional (single-double) exam right. (Note: Students registered for summer school cannot benefit from the additional exam right.)
- Students who have graduated or whose enrollment has been canceled.
- Students who have received a disciplinary penalty (suspension) and those whose enrollment freeze process is ongoing.
- Undergraduate students may not take courses from associate-degree programs.
- Students in the foreign-language preparatory class may not attend the summer school opened at the end of the year in which they complete that program.
Application Requirements
For a student to take a summer-school course at another university:
- The student must have active status in an undergraduate program.
- The student must not have an ongoing suspension or enrollment freeze at any university.
- The compulsory foreign-language preparatory program must have been successfully completed, and the student must have studied at least one semester in the department.
- The student must not have taken the single-double exam in the spring semester of the year in which the summer course is to be taken.
- The total number of courses to be taken (inside and/or outside the university) may not exceed four, and the total weekly course hours (theory + practice + application + laboratory) may not exceed 15 hours.
A student may list more than four courses and 15 hours on the summer-school eligibility form and receive conditional approval from the adjustment committee. However, if the student takes more than four courses and 15 hours and passes them, exemption will not be granted for the excess courses.
As of the year of enrollment, the YKS (AYT-TYT) or DGS base score of the program from which the course is to be taken must be equal to or higher than the student’s own score.
Example: If the student was admitted in 2019 through the evening program (MTOK) quota, that quota’s score must be considered, and the 2019 evening (MTOK) base score of the target university must be higher than that of the same quota in our faculty.
The content, language of instruction, local credits, and ECTS value of the desired course must be equivalent to those of the course in the student’s own program. Accordingly:
- Because our Faculty’s Theology program is partially taught in a foreign language, courses cannot be taken from programs that teach 100% in Turkish.
- Because the Arabic Theology program is taught entirely in a foreign language, courses may only be taken from programs that teach 100% in Arabic; they may not be taken from partially foreign-language programs.
The schedules of summer-school courses inside and outside the university must not overlap.
A written application must be submitted to the Dean’s Office a reasonable time before registration at the host university’s summer school.
Applications submitted after the host university’s summer-school registration dates will not be accepted. Applications must be made before those dates begin.
If any of the above conditions is not met, a summer-school course may not be taken from another university.
Application Documents
Students who are not in the “not eligible” category and wish to take courses from other universities must obtain approval from the Dean’s Office before registering by completing the steps below:
- Filling out the summer-school application form completely, obtaining the required attachments, and carrying out the procedures are the student’s responsibility.
- A printout of the course descriptions—including credits and grading scale—of the course to be taken from the other university must be attached, obtained from that university’s website.
- A current student certificate must be attached.
- A document showing the application dates for the target university’s summer school must be attached.
- The ÖSYM placement document showing the student’s admission score and program must be attached.
